Stump Grinding Prices in Dallas-Fort Worth
Stump grinding is one of the most predictable jobs in the yard-work world — the price comes down to four things: the stump’s diameter (measured across the widest point, flare included), the species (DFW’s post oak and bois d’arc grind slower than hackberry or Bradford pear), access (a curbside stump beats a backyard gate), and grind depth (standard below-grade, or deeper for replanting and construction).
Most single residential stumps in the Metroplex land in the low-to-mid hundreds. Here’s the honest ballpark by size:
Ballpark ranges for a single, ground-level stump. Your exact price comes from a photo — firm, free, and no site visit needed.
What every quote includes
- Machine, operator, and fuel — our 2021 Bandit SG40 and one of the two of us running it. Never a subbed-out crew.
- Grinding below grade — deep enough to mow, sod, or replant over, with surface roots included where accessible.
- Chips as backfill — grindings raked back into the hole and leveled. (Haul-off available as an add-on.)
- A firm number, not a range — the price we text is the price, quoted from your photo before we ever drive out.
Two ways to schedule — pick your price
Flexible (our best price): we batch jobs by area into scheduled routes from our Richardson base, so you’re never paying for a solo trip across the Metroplex. Most stumps are gone within a few days. Priority: closing on a house or a crew arriving? We’ll jump the route for a small priority fee — just tell us your deadline.
Grinding several stumps at once? Each additional stump on the same visit costs far less than the first — batch pricing is where we’re hardest to beat. Comparing DIY? See the real rent-vs-hire math, or the full DFW cost guide.
